Out of Harm's Way,
One Dog at a Time
Update of Scrappy
We had a recheck with our vet and had the stitches removed from his anal area. He is doing well. He still cries a bit while pooping. But the stool is getting solid. He still need to be on cephalexin (antibiotics) for his skin infections. Resuming bathing with medical shampoo. You can see little hair coming out on top of his head.
MedVet medical expense: $851.45 (6/8/2023)
Scrappy has rectal prolapse. He has been at TAHO for the whole day but the doctor couldn’t treat it him. She recommended urgent surgery. We went to COVE and waited for 3 hours. The doctor eventually told us that they couldn't perform the surgery. We then went to MedVet. The ER doctor told us that she would try to put the part back to his body to avoid the surgery. Eventually she made it. We didn't go home till 2 am. The doctor said if the part came out again, Scrappy would need the surgery.
We need donations for Scrappy' medical treatments. He was found as a stray in Dayton, OH. According to the shelter, Scrappy has severe demodectic mange (not contagious), skin infections and inflammation, and severe dental disease (missing canine teeth, lower line of teeth are filed down). He is not neutered. One of his testicles is hidden inside his body which will need an extra procedure for neutering surgery. We estimate the costs of his medical treatments will be $700-800. It's going to be a long way for Scrappy to be healthy again. Please help Scrappy!
We are 501(c)3 approved non-profit organization. We are located in Columbus, OH. We are a foster based rescue which means all dogs are with their fosters. We don't have a shelter to keep dogs and don't have office hours.
The rescue was created in the name of our beloved boy Charlie. Charlie was abused and abandoned by his previous owner. We fell in love and adopted him and he truly became our best friend. Unfortunately he passed away in 2014. Since then Charlie inspired us to start this rescue to save dogs in unfortunate situations and provide them a better life that they all deserve. We have been inspired to help dogs get out of harm's way, one dog at a time!
We focus on making the maximum positive effect. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum we need. Using community driven models, we take actions that make a long-lasting difference. We don't take in many dogs. But we make sure each dog we take in will receive good care and go to a good home.
Your support and contributions will enable us to help these animals. Your generous donation will fund our mission. Remember, your donation is tax deductible!
